What is the lot size for an IPO?

An IPO's lot size is the minimum number of shares you can bid for — set by the issuer for that specific IPO, and the same for every investor category. All your orders are in multiples of the lot size; there's no option to bid for a single share.

How is the lot size decided?

The issuer fixes the lot size before the IPO opens, so it's identical for every applicant on that issue — Individual, Employee or HNI. It doesn't change based on who's applying, only on how many lots you choose to bid for. Every IPO can have a different lot size; there's no single lot size that applies across all issues.

How much does one lot cost?

Your application amount is lot size × number of lots × bid price. For example, say a company called ACD Ltd. is launching an IPO with a lot size of 32 shares and a price band of ₹450–₹465:

  • 1 lot: 32 shares × ₹465 = ₹14,880
  • 2 lots: 64 shares × ₹465 = ₹29,760

Where do I see the lot size on Rupeezy?

On the IPO's Apply screen, the Lot field shows the lot size in shares — for example, Lot (25 Share) means each lot you add is 25 shares. Use the + / - stepper next to it to choose how many lots you want to bid for; the app multiplies lots × lot size × price to show your total application amount. See How do I apply for an IPO? for the full application flow.

Is the lot size the same for every investor category?

Yes. The lot size doesn't change between Individual, Employee and HNI on Rupeezy's Apply screen — what changes by category is the minimum bid amount, not the lot size. For example, HNI applications need a total bid above ₹2 lakh, so an HNI applicant just bids for more lots of the same lot size, not a differently-sized lot.

Things to keep in mind

  • You can't apply for a partial lot — your bid quantity must be an exact multiple of the lot size.
  • The lot size is set per IPO by the issuer, so it's worth checking the Lot field on each new issue rather than assuming it matches the last IPO you applied for.
