What are the reasons for HNI IPO application failure?

Two reasons trip up HNI IPO applications more often than other investor categories: a UPI mandate that's delayed or never generated, and an incorrect UPI ID. Both are more consequential at HNI bid sizes than they are for a smaller Individual application. The reasons that apply to every investor category — duplicate PAN, mandate not approved in time, bidding outside the price band, insufficient bank balance, incorrect demat details — are covered separately in "How to avoid IPO application rejections?"

Why might my HNI mandate be delayed or never arrive?

Every IPO application on Rupeezy, HNI included, goes through the UPI-ASBA route: once you submit your bid, your bank generates a payment mandate that you approve in your UPI app. Because HNI bids involve much larger amounts than an Individual or Employee application, your bank or UPI app can take longer to generate that mandate request — and in some cases may fail to generate it at all — even though your application went through correctly on Rupeezy's side.

If the mandate never reaches your UPI app, or arrives only after the bidding window has closed, there's nothing for you to approve and the application fails — not because of anything you did, but because the request itself didn't arrive in time.

Important: If you've applied and don't see a mandate request within a reasonable time, check your UPI app directly rather than waiting for it to show up closer to the window closing.

Why does an incorrect UPI ID matter more for HNI applications?

A mismatched or mistyped UPI ID stops the mandate from being generated in the first place — your bank can't raise a payment request against a UPI handle that doesn't resolve to your account. This can happen to any applicant, but it's more consequential for HNI applications: the bid amount is large, so there's more at stake in catching the mistake, and less time to notice and correct it before the bidding window closes.

Double-check your UPI ID against your UPI app itself, rather than typing it from memory, before submitting an HNI bid.

Things to keep in mind

  • The reasons every applicant faces — duplicate PAN, not approving the mandate in time, bidding outside the price band, insufficient bank balance, incorrect demat details — apply to HNI applications too. See "How to avoid IPO application rejections?" for the full list.
  • On Rupeezy, HNI applications go through the same UPI-ASBA flow as every other investor category — see "Can I apply for an IPO without using UPI?"
