After you redeem (sell) a mutual fund on Rupeezy, the proceeds are credited to your registered bank account within T+1 to T+3 working days, depending on the type of fund — liquid funds pay out the fastest and equity funds take the longest. Here, T is the day your redemption order is approved, which isn't always the same day you place it.
Rupeezy doesn't hold this money at any stage. The payout is made by the fund house (AMC) through the clearing corporation, straight to the bank account registered for your mutual fund holdings.
How long does each fund type take to credit?
The processing time depends on the fund's own settlement schedule — this is what decides when the fund house transfers your money:
| Fund type | Credited to your bank by |
|---|---|
| Liquid & Overnight funds | T+1 working day |
| Debt funds | T+2 working days |
| Equity funds | T+3 working days |
T = the day your redemption order is approved. Working days exclude weekends and market/bank holidays.
Most schemes follow these timelines, but some fund types have distinct settlement schedules and can take a little longer.
What does "T" mean — the day I placed the order, or the day it was approved?
T is the day your redemption is approved at the applicable NAV, not necessarily the day you tapped Redeem. A redemption placed before the 3 PM cut-off on a trading day is approved that same day (T = today). Place it after 3 PM, on a weekend, or on a market holiday, and T rolls to the next trading day — which pushes the credit date out by that much. You can see how the cut-off decides your order's applicable NAV in What are the cut-off timings and applicable NAV for mutual funds?.
Why might the money take longer than expected?
- Weekends and holidays. The timelines count working days, so a redemption approved just before a weekend or a long holiday will naturally credit a couple of calendar days later.
- The fund's own schedule. A few scheme types settle on their own calendar and can run slightly beyond the usual T+1/T+2/T+3.
- The payout was reversed. If your registered bank account is closed, dormant, or the name doesn't match, the payout can't be credited and is sent back — your units still show as sold, and the amount is re-credited through the reversal process. See Why was my mutual fund redemption payout rejected? and, for reversal timelines, the Rupeezy Mutual Fund Refund Policy.
If the money still hasn't reached you well beyond the timeline above, raise a ticket with us with your order ID and we'll check the status with the fund house on your behalf.
Which bank account will the money go to?
Redemption proceeds are always sent to your primary bank account registered for mutual funds — even if you used a different account to invest. You can check or change which account that is in Can I update the saving account for redemption of mutual fund units?.
Things to keep in mind
- Getting less money is not the same as getting it late. If the amount credited is smaller than you expected, that's the applicable NAV or an exit load, not a delay — see Why did I receive less money than the amount I redeemed?.
- The clock starts at T, and the 3 PM cut-off decides what T is. Place your redemption before the cut-off on a trading day and T is the day you placed it; place it after the cut-off, on a weekend, or on a holiday, and T moves to the next trading day. Count the working days from T.
- Rupeezy doesn't hold your redemption money. The payout is made by the AMC and the clearing corporation directly to your registered bank account; you can redeem in the first place from the fund's screen — see How to redeem or sell mutual fund investments on the Rupeezy app?.
