In an IPO, a lot is the minimum number of shares you can bid for, and you apply in whole lots—one lot, two lots, and so on. The company fixes the lot size and the price band for the issue, so the minimum amount you need to apply is lot size × the price you bid. When you apply on the Rupeezy app, the lot size and price band are shown for that IPO.
How does the lot size work?
- You can bid for a minimum of one lot and then in multiples of that lot—you can't bid for a part of a lot.
- The minimum investment is the lot size multiplied by your bid price (or the upper end of the price band at the cut-off).
- The lot size and price band are set by the company and its lead managers, not by Rupeezy—they're the same wherever you apply.
How many lots can I apply for?
- As a retail individual investor, you can bid up to ₹2,00,000 in total—that may be one lot or several, depending on the lot's value.
- To bid for more than ₹2,00,000, you apply in the High Net-worth Individual (HNI / NII) category instead of the retail category.
