How do I apply for an IPO in the shareholder or employee category?

Some IPOs set aside a reserved portion for existing shareholders of the parent company or for eligible employees of the issuer. If an IPO has such a reservation and you're eligible, you can select the Shareholder or Employee category when you place your bid on Rupeezy—the rest of the flow is the same as any IPO.

Who is eligible?

  • Shareholder category — you hold shares of the specified company (usually the promoter/parent) in your demat account as of the record date mentioned in the offer document.
  • Employee category — you're an eligible employee of the issuing company as defined in the offer document.

These categories appear only for IPOs that actually offer that reservation.

How to apply

  1. In the IPO section, open the IPO and choose the Shareholder or Employee category.
  2. Enter your bid and approve the UPI mandate—see How do I apply for an IPO? for the full flow.

You may also be able to apply in the retail category in addition to a reserved category, within the permitted limits. Reserved categories sometimes carry a small discount to the issue price.
