What is the procedure to open an account as a visually impaired or illiterate person at Rupeezy?

If you are visually impaired or unable to read and write, you can open an account with Rupeezy through the offline (physical forms) process instead of the paperless online flow. In this process the account opening terms are read out and explained to you, a thumb impression is used in place of a signature where needed, and a witness attests to the process — and Rupeezy support can guide you through each step.

Why is the offline process used?

The paperless (online) account opening flow relies on you reading the forms on screen and adding a digital signature yourself. When you cannot read the forms or sign in the usual way, the offline process is used instead because it allows for assistance: the documents can be read out to you, your understanding can be confirmed in person, and a witness can be present. This keeps the account opening genuinely informed rather than a formality.

How does the account opening work?

The exact steps are set by the current onboarding process, but in general practice for such accounts:

  • The terms are read out to you. The account opening documents — including the key terms, risks, and charges — are read aloud and explained so you understand what you are agreeing to before you complete the process.
  • A thumb impression replaces a signature. If you are unable to sign, a left thumb impression (LTI) or right thumb impression (RTI) is taken in place of a signature on the forms.
  • A witness is present. An independent witness observes the process and attests to it, confirming that the terms were explained and that the thumb impression was affixed in their presence.
  • Identity is verified in person. Because the standard online verification may not apply, your identity and documents may need to be verified in person, for example by a Rupeezy official or at a branch.

What documents will I need?

The identity and address documents are the same ones required for any account opening — proof of identity, proof of address, PAN, and bank details. For the general list, see What all documents are required for paperless account opening with Rupeezy?. The difference is not in the documents themselves but in how the forms are completed and attested.
