The mode of operation decides whose authorisation is needed to operate your joint demat account. A Rupeezy joint account runs on one of exactly two modes: Jointly, or Anyone of the Holders or Survivors. You pick one when you open the account. There is no default mode, and the choice cannot be changed later.
What does the mode of operation control?
It answers one question: whose authorisation is required before the account can be debited? A debit moves securities out of your demat account, so the mode is the consent rule sitting in front of every such instruction.
It governs how the account is operated, not who is listed on it. Adding a holder is a separate matter, covered in Can I add a second or third holder to my existing individual account?.
What are the two modes?
Jointly. Every holder has to authorise the instruction. Nothing goes through on one holder's signature alone.
Anyone of the Holders or Survivors. Any one holder can authorise an instruction on their own, without the others signing. If a holder passes away, the surviving holders can carry on operating the account.
Which mode applies to my account?
Whichever one the holders selected on the account opening form. Nothing is applied by default, so if you are not sure which was chosen for your account, check with Rupeezy support before you rely on it for an instruction.
Can the mode of operation be changed later?
No. The mode is fixed at account opening and cannot be changed afterwards, so it is worth agreeing on it with your co-holders before you submit the form.
